about

The Process.

On the 29th of February 2012 I lost someone very close to me, I didn't just loose a friend I lost a mother. During this stage of grief I knew I needed to find a way to channel everything I was going through into a positive outlet, that was music. Music has been the only thing that has been able to allow me to release all my emotions into something worthwhile.

I remember I think I caught the whole music bug when I was actually still inside my mother as she would put on Brian Eno to stop me kicking and I guess you could say that is when the music bug kicked in.

What I'm releasing today and the day of my beautiful mothers anniversary is called The Process EP, its an ambient EP that I have produced which deals with the whole grieving process when going through such an emotional time. I have worked on these tracks for the last couple of months for this exact reason today. I wanted to write something people can relate to, for this to be used as medicine I guess when you are feeling down, low, angry, sad? It could be for so many reasons.

People ask me how are you able to get a grip and handle something so awful and horrible like man you are so strong, well the way I am able to cope through this is with friends and family support that is how I managed to get through it. If you surround yourself with positivity you will be able to get through anything.

The first track is called The Cove, the cove was one of my mums favourite places to go to in Scotland it was a beach in Argyle so I decided to sample my mums favourite place and use it into the first track.

The second track is called A Better Place, I took some of the inspiration from certain ambient artists such as Brian Eno and Aphex Twin which where some of my mums favourite artists to listen to when she was having me.

The third track called See You on the otherside I took the inspiration from Philip Glass who is a very famous pianist his works where actually played at my mothers funeral and so I decided to start teaching myself to learn piano and add to some ambient journey that I was trying to showcase.

I appreciate my family, my friends and everyone that has shown me support through this very tough 8 years. My family appreciates the support and care from all those closest to me also.

So yeah, I hope you love this Mum I hope you all love this to, I just want to keep her spirit going through my music after all she really did bring me up on this amazing thing called music. My Mum really was an amazing women, in so many ways more than one.

This is for you

The Process.
